Gone Birds

Maggie Doyle is a writer and poet who lives on a small farm in the Dromara Hills in Northern Ireland. Her book, Mountain Notes – A Nature Diary, is a lyrical memoir of her return to live on the family farm in 2020. Her poetry has been published in various Irish journals, and she was shortlisted for the Seamus Heaney Award for New Writing in 2023, the Bridport Poetry Prize in 2024 and awarded a place on the Freedom to Write project 2024. In 2019, she took early retirement after a 30-year career as a radio producer/executive at BBC Northern Ireland and went back to college. She has an MA in Creative Writing and an MA in Poetry from the Seamus Heaney Centre at Queen’s University in Belfast. She also manages ‘Magy’s Farm,’ a small, independent jazz venue in the Dromara Hills.
